Weekly Recap โ€“ Pinterest, Facebook Page, Google+ (July 22, 2017)

Posted July 22, 2017 by Geybie's Book Blog in Weekly Recaps / 75 Comments

Hi everyone, how are you? I hope you are doing great and having a wonderful weekend. I had a busy yet wonderful week. A lot of things have been going on in my real life but everything has turned out to be the way I hoped for. One thing I want to share with you is about social media. As you might have noticed, I only used two social media (Twitter and Instagram) until last week, but yesterday I decided to create Pinterest, Facebook Page, and Google+ accounts. I’m still not familiar with these three; I’m still learning to use it.

Here are the links:

Do you guys have any advice? Which ones out of the three do you use the most?ย Please, check them out and follow me there if you haven’t yet. Let me know your accounts; I’ll follow you back. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a new weekly post I’ve just started. It is called “Recommend Me Books.” Please check it out. I need your help to recommend me your favorites. ๐Ÿ˜€

Last week on the blog:

I only read one book last week because I needed some time to process it before writing the review. I didn’t read any books in between. I did enjoy it, although writing the review was a little bit difficult. Please check out my review for Atheists Who Kneel and Pray if you haven’t yet.

Books Iโ€™ve just got and am currently reading/listening:

Guys, I’m so excited! I got an ARC from the author Rachel Higginson (my favorite author) of her soon to be releasedย The Difference Between Us. I’m reading it right now. I’m also currently listening to Cecy Robson’s audiobook,ย Onceย Perfect (Thank you, Kimberly). I’m loving both of them so far.

  1. Oh I still don’t get google+. I have just given up. But I do love FB and pinterest! I pin all my reviews there and it does get me a significant amount of traffic to the blog. FB is where most of my traffic comes from though (after search engines). I spend a lot of time there! Probably too much…
Glad you are enjoying once perfect. I kind of want to do a reread of that one now.

  2. I’m all over social media but some are more productive than others. Twitter is still one of the best places for a blogger outside of the blog itself. FB comes next, especially since some authors tag and repost. I honestly don’t think Pinterest is the right place for books, but I post my reviews when I think of it – I should be more consistent. Google+ is not something I’m going to think about it. My post will be automatically posted on the google+ account but there is literally nothing going on.

I tried reading The Difference Between Us but I just can’t connect to any of the characters – I feel horrible about it. ๐Ÿ™

    What is the LINK UP??

    • I’m still not knowing what to do with Google+. Never used it before.
About The Difference Between Us, Oh sorry to hear that. I’m still into the first chapter though but I’m loving it so far. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The link ups are weekly memes, hon. You need to join. ๐Ÿ˜

    • They’re like memes. You go to the websites (click the links) and submit your link. You need to make a post or posts for each one of them (I choose to make them in one post). Some choose to make different posts for each meme. Your choice. It’s so simple. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Make the post/posts first before you submit them.

I’ve done Pinterest and love it because of all the images it has and everything else. It seems like Pinterest has everything! Other than Twitter and Goodreads (which I’m terrible at) Pinterest is probably the only other social media I use. I have Facebook but ignore it lol.

I’ve avoided Google + but I don’t know, maybe one of these days?

  4. I don’t really use google+ much, but I do like pinterest and I also use twitter a lot, I like to chat – lol. Have a great week ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I tend to just use Twitter and Instagram as well, I do have the other social media accounts but I don’t really use them except Facebook for personal use. I have your Facebook page a like. I will head over and check out your recommend me post and your review. Have a week week.

  6. I don’t use Pinterest and I so far have successfully avoided Google + – the paranoid part of me deeply dislikes how Googles ‘connects’ all their information about you. I tend to use Twitter and Facebook, though of the 2 I think Twitter is by far the most successful at relaying traffic and communicating with fellow bloggers.
Loved your review of Atheists Who Kneel and Pray:). Have a wonderful week and hope you are enjoying the summer:) My Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/07/23/sunday-post-23rd-july-2017/

  7. I haven’t read anything by Fisher, something tells me her books are not for me. I use Instagram, Goodreads and Twitter the most. My Google+ account is basically useless, same as Facebook even though I post my links there but I do use Pinterest to pin images from my reviews and it brings a lot of traffic. Have a great week!

    • Her books are mostly unique. She rarely writes pure romance. This one is exceptional, I think. Her writing is amazing. ๐Ÿ™‚
Thank you, hon. I hope you have an awesome week too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Yay for those new social media profiles! In terms of advice….I would say that you automatically share your latest posts to each profile whenever you publish them to your blog. I do that for my FB page and Google +. I don’t do it for Pinterest, but I do use Pinterest a lot for my writing projects – not so much blogging.
Just followed you on those profiles ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy reading for the week ahead, Geybie!

  9. Of those 3 social media, I only use Pinterest. I’ve been on it forever, and I still pin things. You can usually tell what’s on my mind based on my pins. ๐Ÿ™‚ One thing I’ve never really used it for is books, though, so I probably can’t offer any helpful advice.

  10. Google plus i just share things on and my pinterest is really my recipe book. I use that for finding new things to cook for the family ๐Ÿ™‚ FB is ok, they hide you a lot unless you can get people to interact. I still prefer twitter! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am hoping to read Atheists Who Kneel and Pray soon ๐Ÿ™‚ Need to go check out your review!

Have a great week, Geybie! Happy Reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thank you, Michelle. I’ve heard that fb often hides the posts. Lots of complaints about it. But lots of authors seem to choose FB more than the others so I made one. I have no idea how to manage all of them though. hehe

Thank you, Michelle. Have a wonderful week too. Happy reading. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I only use mostly Twitter and Facebook. I do have account with Google+ and Instagram and Pinterest but don’t use those as much as I probably should. Facebook is a great place to interact with authors especially.

  12. Ya know, I’m set up on all those social media platforms and I have my blog feed sent there but I really don’t “interact” with any of them (oops). It’s only because of the current climate I don’t – I don’t want to know my favorite author’s political pov (sorry!). BUT it doesn’t hurt to be there!! I personally only play on Pinterest for personal reasons b/c I find graphic design stuff there often. My Pinterest is a big ‘ol mess. OH!! FB is great to have to share author posts – they appreciate that!! Authors love FB still.

Sorry if I just confused you more :S

    • No, Kristin, I get what you mean. I decided to join FB to be able to share author posts too. Yay, Pinterest has been the one most recommended out of the three. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful week. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. I have all three plus Tumblr but I don’t use any of them lol I’m a Insta/Twitter girl. The others just don’t work for me but I know a lot of bloggers have fun on FB chatting but it’s never worked that way in my case. And I have many friends that love Pinterest for perusing photos and recipes but I can only handle so many platforms so those are the two I actually enjoy visiting and are fun for me.

    For What It’s Worth

  14. Wow, you’ve done a lot of work on your Pinterest account already! I opened one up for my blog but haven’t done too much yet! I have followed you and when I’m back on my computer I’ll check out your fb page as well.

I have a Pinterest acc and a Facebook page for my blog but I don’t really Google +. I think I need to look into it! I like Pinterest so far but I need to spend some more time on it.

Hope you have a great week!

  15. Oh wow, you’ve created a lot ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t have a pinterest (for the blog) either, cause I don’t see how I’d use it. And then, time ๐Ÿ˜€ I should still create a G+ page, although I finally have an FB page! Not that it’s a whole lot of use ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. Jenea

I like Pinterest, but as for Google + not so much. Just can’t figure it out. I’m not very social on any of them, but I am getting better. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a great week.

  17. Oh, thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ just /avalinahsbooks! Or the easier way is to just go to my blog and click the side buttons that have all my social links ๐Ÿ™‚ the sticky ones that are always on the side. I can follow yours tomorrow too, if I don’t forget ๐Ÿ˜€

  18. Making your own pins and pinning other peoples. That’s about it. On a personal note though, I always pin recipes or artsy stuff that I generally fail at. Ha ha. ๐Ÿ™‚ Pinterest FAIL is a thing.

Thanks for following me back! Hopefully one day I’ll learn to use it nicely. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. carolesrandomlife

I have a Google + and Facebook page but I don’t do as much with it as I should. Enjoy your current reads!

  20. I don’t know how to use Google+, I haven’t took the time to figure it, I share reviews (but that’s about all) but I do LOVE following everyone there, it makes it so much easier to see all my favorite bloggers in one place. ๐Ÿ™‚ I used Facebook, but I don’t post books stuff, it’s just family and I do follow authors. Enjoy all your new social media outlets and all your new reads, have a wonderful day.

  21. I use Pinterest a lot, but not for my blog. I have a Facebook page for my blog that I post to almost every day. The advice I would give for FB is don’t post all of the exact same things you post on Twitter and IG. People have no incentive to follow if they are going to see the same things over again. I like to share bookish articles from websites and interesting posts from other book blogs. I hope you are having a wonderful week. ๐Ÿ™‚

  22. Pussreboots

I have a Google+ account but I haven’t used it in ages. I’ve followed your Facebook page. My blog also has one.

Stage one of the move is complete. We’re out of our house and now we’re trying to get it ready to put on the market. Come see what I’m reading.

  23. I do create a lot of my own pins. You can get a “pin it” button for your browser toolbar. If I’m on a site that has something I want to save, I click my pin it button and pin it to the appropriate board on my pinterest. I also find a lot of things just by browsing my pinterest feed. You can also look at something that you’ve pinned and underneath it there will be a ton of similar pins.
