Weekly Recap – Last Week and February (March 5, 2017)

Posted March 5, 2017 by Geybie's Book Blog in Weekly Recaps / 55 Comments

I didn’t have a great reading time last week. All of the books I’ve read and reviewed were way below my expectations. None of them really interested me, but I’m glad, at least, I managed to try new authors.

My goal is to review at least three books a week and so far I’ve succeeded. Yay, so proud of it. I’m planning to join reading challenges this month, to motivate me to read more and engage with fellow book bloggers.

What I read in February

Besides the recap of last week’s reading activities, I want to share my February recap as well. In February I managed to review 12 books. ๐Ÿ˜€

Preston's Honorย Don't Speak (A Modern Fairytale)ย Debtย Riveted (Saints of Denver, #3)ย Mack Daddyย The Studying Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #1)ย The Failing Hours (How to Date a Douchebag, #2)ย A Thousand Lettersย Heat Waveย Vicious (Sinners of Saint, #1)ย Mists of the Serengetiย Wrecking Ball (Hard To Love #1)

I found two of my FIVE-star books that month! I would have wanted more than two, though, so hopefully, I will find more this month. Fingers crossed! ๐Ÿ˜€

What I read last week

This last week was not a pleasant one for me, unfortunately; I didn’t enjoy all the books I read and reviewed and it made me frustrated at times.

Cole by [Tijan]ย Mister Wrongย Preston's Honor

I have a few candidates to read this week or during this month and some of them sound amazing that I can’t wait to start!

Nova (The Renegades, #2)ย Black Hearts (Sins Duet, #1)ย Dirty Souls (Sins Duet, #2)ย Passion & Venom (Venom, #1)ย Venom & Ecstasy (Venom, #2)

I’m waiting for Dirty Souls to be released before jumping in Black Hearts because I hate cliffhangers. Venom Trilogy is another series that I’ve just discovered. This sounds amazing. When the author says “I will the first person to tell you that this story is NOT for everyone,” she gets me right there! I love dark romance. In fact, my recent top 5-star favorite is a dark romance. I want to experience that rare feeling again. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Sunday Post Link-Up

Iโ€™m linking up to The Sunday Post at Caffeinated Book Reviewerย by the amazing Kimberly. Thank you, Kim. ๐Ÿ˜€

As you can see, my TBR list is very limited. Do you guys have great recommendations for me? Dark romances? Alpha Males? Badass Heroes? Or any of your “OMG this book is out of this world AMAZING!”? ๐Ÿ˜€

Wow, a great reading month! Sorry to hear they were somewhat disappointing though, or at least not great. I love those two Venom covers- those are awesome!

  2. Blah, that sucks when you get a batch of books that don’t really interest you. It’s not so bad when you hit one or two every so often, but it’s a drag when they’re clunked together. Ohh, but I want to read Heat Wave. And yeah, don’t blame you for wanting to wait for Dirty Souls.

    • Thanks, Kristen. I would want to have two five star reads a week if I could. ๐Ÿ˜€
Two 5 star reads a year? You must be very picky. Hehe. I hope you enjoy your reads this week and have an awesome time. ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. Awesome that youโ€™ve been able to read three books a week. I not doing as good as I would like but reading, working and planning a wedding just seems to make my weeks shorter than usual. LOL! I will get their again after our wedding! ๐Ÿ˜€
Congrats on the 12 books read in February. Thatโ€™s awesome!
    Have a great week!

  4. Such a great reading month. A lot of the books you read I want to check out. Have you heard of Royal Affair by Parker Swift it’s a book I loves recently that you might like. It has a alpha male who’s royalty.

    Megan @reading away the days

    • I haven’t heard that. Ohh Thank you so much. I’ll check it out. Thanks for recommending me that book and stopping by, Megan. I hope you have a great week.
Mists in the Serengeti is awesome. Debt is my latest favorite. It is a dark romance, though. Riveted is another one that I highly recommend as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Iโ€™m 25% so far and loving it. I love all of your recommendations (5 stars)! Why I haven’t read any books by this author before is still a mystery. She is a genius! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thank you for stopping by, Stormi. I’m reading Nova right now. It’s great and I’m loving it.
I get what you’re feeling. ๐Ÿ™ Last week was so difficult for me. So disappointing. ๐Ÿ™
I hope you’re getting the ones that you’ll enjoy soon, Stormi. Have a great week. ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Hopefully you will find many engaging books to read this week. Your February list, with Debt, and another 5 star read, looked like a good one.

Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog. Enjoy your week!

    • Thank you, Grace. February was pretty awesome. I did enjoy blogging, reading and reviewing. ๐Ÿ˜€
I hope you enjoy the books you’re planning to read and have a great week.
      Thanks for stopping by. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thank you, Michelle. How to Date a Douchebag Series is very good. I hope you give it a try. It is one of the good NAs. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great week too. ๐Ÿ˜€

  6. Great reading month numbers wise even though the latest were a bit underwhelming. I have noticed when I try and push myself out of my comfort zone with new authors or new genres it can be really great or really not! Sometimes I just have to mix an old favorite in! Have a great week!

    • Thank you, Katherine. Yes, agree with you. I’ve decided to be more selective about what I’m going to read now. And mixing an old favorite in is a very good idea.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week and happy reading. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Couldn’t more agree with you. It was a big risk that I didn’t forget. I found a good author last month whose book ended up becoming one of my best reads. So, I’m still gonna take the risk. ๐Ÿ˜€
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great week, filled with awesome reads. ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. Lauren H.

Hi! Love your site! This is my first time stopping by. Won’t be my last either! I really wanted to read Mack Daddy By Penelope Ward, so I’m kinda scared that you gave it a 3.5…eeek! Sorry to see that the books you read last week were 3 star books. I hate when that happens. But I notice that if I read to many 4 and 5 star books in a row, I’ll hit a book slump where I’m not able to finish books and or I’m giving out 2 and 3 star reviews. Does that every happen to you? – Obsessive Book Nerd

    • Hi Lauren.. Thanks for stopping by. So excited to see a new reader coming. ๐Ÿ˜€
Btw, If you’re planning to read Mack Daddy, please give it a try. It didn’t work for me but many love it. It might work for you. ๐Ÿ˜€
Yes it happens to me many times, Lauren. When I read awesome books sometimes I become very picky about my next reads, which is not good. Usually when it happens, I’ll take a day or two days off or try a different genre. It usually works. ๐Ÿ˜€

I hope you have a great week. Happy reading. ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. I think those Karina Halle books look pretty awesome!! I love her stuff but I haven’t seen these yet. Check out Christy’s site b/c she has on her sidebar some deals on Amazon that might pad up your TBR a bit. And I’m fairly certain she picks each one. I think she has the same taste as you. My tastes are ALL OVER the place ๐Ÿ™‚

I joined a bunch of reading challenges, too, now I need to actually do the wrap up posts monthly!! I’m trying to be better about getting around, too!

I DO love your site!!!!!! So cute ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great week!!!

    • Thank you so much, Kristin. I check Christy’s site regularly. She has awesome list that I love and her recommendations are amazing. I do love your site too. I get Twist by Kylie Scott from recommendation. It will be my next read this month.
You have great tastes in book. I love it. Lots of different new to me books.
I’m trying to try different genres myself. I did love mystery, romantic suspense, etc. But always find myself back to contemporary romance. LOL.
Thanks for stopping by, Kristin. I hope you have a great week, filled with awesome reads. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Oh I can feel it. I have three books in a row. It was tough for me. I was feeling like drowning.
Let’s hope our reads are way better this week. I’m feeling like I’m in dire need for great reads now. And lucky for me, I’m reading one right one. It is great. Nova by Rebeccah Yarros. Have you read it?

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great week and awesome reads. ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. carolesrandomlife

3 reviews a week is a really good goal. That is what I shoot for. Sometimes I end up with 4 and sometimes only 2. I hope your next books exceed your expectations. Have a great week!

  10. Three books a week!?!?! Wow. I’m struggling with 3 every two weeks. I’m hoping I’ll be able to pick up the pace this year or I’ll never meet my GR goal!

I hope you have more 5 stars in the very near future!

    • I was struggling to keep up myself. It was definitely not easy. I hope you’ll meet your goal, Di. Thank you so much. I hope you have a great week filled with awesome books, too. Thanks for stopping by. ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. I am in awe that you manage to read/review 3 books a week. That’s awesome! I average 1-2 books a week (reading) and I am ridiculously behind on my reviews. I keep thinking I’m going to devote an entire weekend to getting caught up but that hasn’t happened yet. I love Mia Sheridan but have not read Preston’s Honor yet. I’m looking forward to it, though. And I haven’t read anything by Tijan even though I’ve had Carter Reed sitting on my Kindle for at least 3 years. Probably time to get on that!
    Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

    • It’s been tough for me to keep up, Tanya. Sometimes I only managed two a week. Yes, Mia is one of my favorite authors. I love her other books more than this one, though. Tijan is awesome as well. Cole isn’t just for me. But I’ll read her other books next time. Her writing is so good. ๐Ÿ˜€

  12. Holy lord of blogger you are one productive blogger. 12 books! hat off! I think you needed that week of reading ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope next books are better ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. That’s nice you got to try some new authors, but that’s too bad none of them were as good as you hoped :(. I don’t join a lot of reading challenges, but they can be a fun way to meet new people. My favorites are Coyer and the New Release Challenge.
Looks you had a good reading month and that’s great you had two 5 stars this month. I think I had none, so you dd better than me. But I had a lot of very good 4 stars, so i don’t mind. I hope this week is a good one for your!

    • Thank you, Lola. That wasn’t my best week but I’m glad I at least finished them.
Ahh so happy for you. At least you enjoyed your reads. 4 starts are awesome.
      Thanks for stopping by. ๐Ÿ˜€
