Are you a fan of Cinderella’s story? If you, like me, love a story of a beautiful girl who lives a hard life but eventually finds her prince charming, then this book is for you. Since I love alpha, bad boy/guy, hot as hell with dirty mouth kind of Prince Charming, you can say that I love this story. In fact, I love ALL of the kinds of prince charming. They could be dressed good and loaded with money, or in boots and on motorcycles, or just plain charming with a good manner and all that stuff. Yes, as a romance book blogger, I LOVE a cinderella’s story. Although for me it would be cinderella’s STORIES.

Ok, enough about me.

Let’s back to the story. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to my NEWEST PRINCE CHARMING, Markus Sloan. Sorry, not mine, but Daisy’s. Ok, MINE, since I was experiencing the story myself. He is the gold, the real catch. He possesses everything I’ve always wanted in my book heroes, from the way he acts, the way he talks, how he expresses his thoughts and feelings and how he treats his woman. He is perfect, the representation of what a man should be. He is the man with power and money who has established a good reputation for being dangerous but treats the women he’d dated with care, especially the one he loves. He treats Daisy like a QUEEN! 🙂

He loved the way she was.

“You of course know,” he began informatively, “that one of the most attractive things a woman can be is knowing exactly who she is, embracing that entirely, and not giving that first fuck what anyone thinks about it.”

To the point that I thought he was too good to be true. 😉

“I handle you with care. I’ll always handle you with care. I will never, not ever, Daisy, give you reason to leave me. I won’t cheat on you. I won’t beat you. The gambles I take will be in business only, but you’ll always be covered financially regardless. I like to drink but I never drink too much. I’ve never taken drugs in my life. I like control and you can’t be in control inebriated or stoned. To end, you’re safe with me. You’ll get from me only what you deserve, which is everything I can give you doing it handling you with care.”

And when I thought he wouldn’t be more perfect, he added…

“If I break any of those promises, you’re free to leave me. If I don’t, you’re not. Not ever. If something isn’t working, we talk it out and make it work. Which means we’ll always work so there will be no reason to leave.”

And Daisy is the kind of heroine that you can easily connect with. I love that Kristen Ashley always manages to make all her characters, especially female characters, carry their unique signatures, like the way they talk and act. For Daisy, it is the way she talks and her fashion choice. Although I’ve met her in Miss Ashley’s previous books, to be honest, I needed some time to get used to her unique ways of talking again. Sometimes she acted very maturely, to the point that I could imagine her in her 50ies, but other times she acted like a teenager.

I could see how she went through when she was growing up, and I could feel her struggles and the pains she was carrying. I understood her trust issues toward relationships and life in general, but sometimes she could be stupid.

“If I was Markus Sloan’s moll, no one would think of touching me.”

What? Ok. Seriously. How could he have known that this thing would happen to you? What a stupid, illogical reaction. 🙁

However, overall, I love this story and as a longtime fan of Kristen Ashley’s stories and writing, I can say that she really did it again. The only thing that I want more is the story dynamic. I want more intrigued and actions I usually experienced in her writing. But knowing that this is a short story (which is not that short, but it is, compared to Kristen Ashley’s regular books), I can understand the reason behind it, although it wouldn’t hurt to have something spicy that could satisfy my adventurous side. 😉

This story is one of the most heartfelt, deep, beautiful love stories from Kristen Ashley that I’ve ever read and I highly recommend it to the fans of alpha male heroes.
